Virtual Prototyping of High-Performance Optical Networks

The optical networking (OPN) group focuses on modeling and simulation of optical networks for a variety of applications, such as advanced avionics systems. The work began with a focus on the evaluation and selection of a simulation environment best suited for the virtual prototyping of these networks. Currently, work is underway to develop and test models for key components for emerging forms of optical networks, which will be followed by the development of system models that make it possible to project performance of future network architectures.
