Testbed Networks

Laboratory research facilities include a wide variety of networking testbeds. A summary of these resources is as follows:

  • 20 Gb/s Voltaire/Mellanox DDR InfiniBand, 40 server nodes in two clusters, one switch per cluster
  • 10 Gb/s Quadrics QsNetII, 32 server nodes, one switch
  • 10 Gb/s Voltaire InfiniBand 4x, 16 server nodes, one switch
  • 10 Gigabit Ethernet, 1 node, two switches
  • 8 Gb/s RapidIO, 2 endpoint nodes (hardware development boards)
  • 5.3 Gb/s Scalable Coherent Interface, 18 server nodes (3D) and 16 server nodes (2D)
  • 1.28 Gb/s Myrinet, 16 server nodes, two switches
  • 1.25 Gb/s Giganet cLAN, 8 server nodes, one switch
  • Gigabit Ethernet, 100+ server nodes, variety of switches

Many of the Ethernet switching resources were generously provided by Nortel Networks and Cisco Systems. SCI resources were generously provided by Dolphin Interconnect Solutions. RapidIO resources (FPGA cores, development boards) were generously provided by Xilinx. QsNetII resources were generously discounted and portions donated by Quadrics.
