Lambda cluster

The Lambda cluster consists of 16 Linux servers. This cluster was made possible thanks to the generous support of AMD and their donation of Opteron microprocessors, Cisco Systems and their donation of a Gigabit Ethernet switch and related components, and Dolphin Interconnect and their donation of SCI interface cards and cable. Each of the SMP nodes in this cluster consists of the following:
  • Dual AMD 1.4GHz Opteron 240 processors with 32- and 64-bit processing and HyperTransport
  • Tyan Thunder K8S server motherboard
  • Dual on-board 1 Gb/s Ethernet
  • 1GB of Kingston Registered ECC DDR PC2700 (DDR333) RAM
  • PCI-X (133MHz) bus slots
  • 40GB IDE drive @ 7200 RPM
  • Enlight EN-8950 server case with 460W power supply

Special features:

  • 5.3 Gb/s 2D Scalable Coherent Interface (Dolphin D339 PCI64/66 Wulfkit cards)
  • 10 Gb/s InfiniBand (Voltaire ISR9024 switch & HCA400 cards)
  • Gigabit Ethernet (Cisco CAT4503 switch)
