Beta cluster

This new cluster of computers (codename: beta) in the lab grid consists of 80 quad-core servers. This cluster was made possible in part by a generous discount provided on the motherboards by Supermicro. Each of the nodes in this cluster is comprised of the following components:
  • Intel Xeon 3220 Quad Core Processor, 2.40 GHz, 8MB Cache, 1066 MHz FSB
  • Supermicro PDSME+ System Board with 4 PCI-X slots (2 x 133MHz, 2 x 100MHz), 1 PCIe x8, and 1 PCIe x4
  • 2GB of 667 MHz DDR2 RAM
  • 80GB SATA Hard Drive, 7200 RPM With 8MB Cache Buffer
  • On-board Gigabit Ethernet (dual)
  • Foxconn 626 midtower chassis with 430W power supply
