Alpha cluster
This new cluster of computers (codename: alpha) in the lab grid
consists of 32 quad-core servers. Each of the nodes in this cluster is comprised of
the following components:
- Intel Xeon 3220 Quad Core Processor, 2.40 GHz, 8MB Cache, 1066 MHz FSB
- 2GB of 667 MHz DDR2 RAM
- Intel S3000AH System Board with PCIe x8 (head node)
- Intel DG965 System Board with PCIe x16 (worker nodes)
- 500GB SATA Hard Drive, 7200 RPM With 16MB Cache Buffer (head node)
- 80GB SATA Hard Drive, 7200 RPM With 8MB Cache Buffer (worker nodes)
- On-board Gigabit Ethernet (dual on head node)
